About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assist emergency room team in a consultant role to provide clinical care, evaluation and disposition recommendation to patients presenting to the emergency room in mental health or substance abuse crisis.
Provides written recommendation for level of care and coordinates placement, plan and/or referral as needed.
Conduct face-to-face or virtual (telehealth) consultations with patients in crisis.
Recommend appropriate level of clinical care.
Collaborates with community care team and caregivers to provide patient-centered recommendation.
Provides ongoing reassessment and crisis intervention while patient remains in the emergency room.
Coordinates with placement team and/or community partners to support disposition recommendation.
Referrals of patients to outpatient services either within or outside the system.
Remains up to date with current resources and patient access referrals.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other mental health profession
2 to 5 years experience in a behavioral health setting
Direct clinical experience in a hospital, mental health, or clinic setting (preferred)
1 year crisis management skills in hospital, clinic, or managed care setting (preferred)
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker - MN Board of Social Work required upon hire or
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist - MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy required upon hire or
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy required upon hire or
Licensed Psychologist-MN Board of Psychology required upon hire
