About the role
- Manage and take ownership of processes that generate critical business data, working closely with colleagues in IT
- Define and implement data validation rules, monitoring metrics, and quality checks for the processes under our responsibility
- Maintain and expand the curated data layer in close collaboration with IT, ensuring consistent and accurate representation of core data entities (e.g., trades, prices, positions)
- Collaborate with product teams and business stakeholders across teams and regions to define and evolve data models
- Work closely with the business teams owning critical reporting (e.g., departments such as Market Risk, Credit Risk, Accounting, Back Office)
- Maintain the quality and consistency of key business data across systems and departments
- Perform root cause analysis of data issues and drive corrective actions across upstream systems
- Take product ownership of data products and contribute to data governance initiatives and documentation standards
- Coordinate change delivery with the business departments and be responsible for successful implementation of requirements and for managing projects impacting the products and processes we own
- Support end users by analyzing and explaining data
Requirements
- A university degree and at least 3 years of professional experience in the energy or commodity trading business
- Solid energy trading, risk management and commodity trade lifecycle knowledge is a plus; at minimum we require a demonstrated interest in these topics
- Strong understanding of data pipelines, data validation, and data quality frameworks
- Proficiency with SQL and experience working with relational databases
- Experience with Python is a plus
- A proactive delivery attitude is essential; you must take initiative and drive topics forward independently
- Ability to self-initiate changes and translate business requests into actionable plans
- Strong user-level IT skills in this field are required
- Experience with software such as ETRM systems, Snowflake and Power BI is an advantage
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
