About the role

  • Leading the detailed design and engineering development of BESS projects
  • Developing complete electrical system designs, including power conversion, protection coordination, interconnection schemes and control interfaces across LV and HV networks
  • Producing, reviewing and approving technical documentation such as single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts and equipment arrangements
  • Assessing and selecting appropriate energy storage solutions
  • Supporting grid compliance activities
  • Preparing technical specifications and procurement documentation
  • Identifying and managing technical risks
  • Working collaboratively with construction, commissioning and delivery teams

Requirements

  • Strong grounding in power systems, BESS technology and distributed energy integration
  • Competent with electrical design tools – AutoCAD, Trimble ProDesign, MATLAB, PowerFactory, ETAP, or similar
  • Evidence of delivering end-to-end engineering design packages for LV and HV systems
  • Confident communicator able to liaise effectively with clients, manufacturers, network operators, project managers, and site teams
  • Experience of engineering governance and CDM, Building Regulations, Design Risk Assessments, HAZOP/HAZID, DSEAR or equivalent
