About the role

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Data strategy aligned with the organization's overall business objectives
  • Identify emerging technologies to drive innovation while minimizing cost
  • Manage and mentor the Data team, assigning responsibilities, evaluating performance, ensuring accountability and fostering collaboration
  • Oversee planning, implementation, and maintenance of Data infrastructure including data warehouse platform(s), data lake(s), transactional databases, pipelines, ETL, API, insights, ML and AI implementations
  • Lead execution of Data projects and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and senior management proactively
  • Analyze Data operations to identify areas for improvement and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Build and maintain relationships with leaders across the organization to facilitate performance and delivery
  • Directly responsible for leading Data Architecture, Data Engineering and Data Science teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Drive innovation and delivery rather than maintenance

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years hands-on experience in data engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years in a role with direct reports managing a budget of around $2M annually
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in Data Engineering or Computer Science
  • Unimpeachable technical knowledge in Data Engineering and Architecture
  • Strong hands-on experience with Airflow, Fivetran, Kafka, dbt
  • Experience with modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift)
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data modeling techniques
  • Experience with AWS cloud platform
  • Deep understanding of data architecture, pipelines, warehousing, and real-time data streaming
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities
  • Strategic thinking and ability to align Data with business goals
  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements
