About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead technical design and implementation for large, high-risk, or high-complexity initiatives improving backend availability, scalability, and resilience
Design service boundaries and maintainable infrastructure architecture; guide reliability standards and best practices
Design money-movement systems with operational safety and compliance in mind
Own end-to-end observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting
Build and refine incident response processes; lead production incident diagnosis and resolution
Drive thorough postmortems and prevent incident recurrence
Partner with product, compliance, finance operations, support, backend engineering, and external providers
Collaborate with engineers through code and infrastructure reviews, pairing, and technical discussions
Make architectural, deployment, and rollout-safety decisions; escalate decisions with broader business impact
Drive capacity planning, performance tuning, and infrastructure cost-efficiency
Define and track SLOs/SLIs and prioritize reliability work
Mentor engineers and raise engineering and operational standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 7 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or backend infrastructure roles
Deep production expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS
Strong scripting/programming ability, including TypeScript and/or another tooling, automation, or service language
Practical PostgreSQL operations expertise at scale, including replication, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and financial-system correctness patterns
Practical Redis expertise for caching, coordination, rate-limiting, and distributed locking in production
Strong command of observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, or equivalent
Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code such as Terraform, and secrets management
Experience in fintech or other high-stakes systems, including provider integration resilience, failover design, and compliance-sensitive infrastructure
Experience owning complex, high-stakes incidents from detection through resolution and postmortem
Strong communication skills across engineering, product, compliance, and external partners
Habit of identifying issues before they become incidents and learning from failure
Experience mentoring or raising a team's operational standards
