About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for assigned spend categories
- Lead opportunity, internal supply chain, and supply market assessments
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for complex, high-value materials, equipment, and services
- Lead competitive bidding processes and objective bid evaluations with cross-functional groups
- Recommend supplier awards to Supply Chain and Business Unit leadership
- Develop terms and conditions, negotiate strategic contracts, and integrate contracts with internal systems
- Manage ongoing supplier and contract management and resolve billing or shipment issues
- Develop should-cost models and analyze material, labor, overhead, profit, spending, pricing, and market trends
- Calculate net working capital impacts and influence deal structures
- Negotiate with supplier and manufacturer management to drive cost avoidance and savings
- Communicate transaction risks and mitigation opportunities to business unit and executive leadership
- Review supplier financial statements and assess financial viability
- Identify contractual and deal-structure risks
- Apply, redline, and negotiate complex legal and commercial terms; engage Legal for advanced issues
- Develop change-management strategies for sourcing implementation
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, post-award activities, settlements, claims, disputes, purchase orders, and agreements
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve escalated business-unit/supplier issues
- Provide assistance and cross-training to sourcing personnel
- Work independently with minimal supervision and lead teams and larger project efforts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Senior Sourcing Specialist: Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years related work experience
- Senior Sourcing Specialist alternative: High School Degree/GED and nine (9) years related work experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree
- Sourcing Specialist: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years related work experience
- Sourcing Specialist alternative: High School Degree/GED and six (6) years related work experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree
- Bachelor's degree + 5 years of work experience OR Associate's degree + 7 years of work experience OR HS/GED + 9 years of work experience
- Certified Purchasing Manager, Certified Professional in Supply Management, or Certified Supply Chain Professional certifications preferred/desired
- Demonstrated business and financial expertise

- Must live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility
- Travel requirements: 15–25%
