About the role
- Analyzing and developing BES (Bulk Electric System) Transmission expansion projects
- Ensuring the implementation of Transmission Planning activities in accordance with FERC, NERC and regional planning requirements
- Developing skills to perform steady state analysis of the Duke Energy Florida transmission system
- Developing skills to perform maintenance/updates of electric system models utilizing PSSE software
- Working with various project teams to develop solutions for electric transmission system improvements
- Supporting Economic Development and other company goals with transmission planning studies
- Ensuring compliance with NERC Reliability Standards
- Participating on inter-utility system working groups and performing related studies
- Providing technical support to other areas of Transmission and the company on transmission planning related issues
- Supporting the company's goals and representing the company in a positive professional manner at regional reliability team meetings
- Coordinating the preparation of electrical diagrams, technical reports, correspondence, and documentation
Requirements
- Engineer II: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program, two (2) or more years related work experience
- Engineer III: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program, four (4) or more years related work experience
- Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
- Programming experience in areas such as Python, batch files, Visual Basic
- Competence in engineering theories and principles
- Department specific experience applicable to the hiring department.
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
