About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Achieve and maintain compliance with all Transmission Planning-applicable NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Support timely, high-quality filings on FERC Orders and provide impactful comments on NOPRs.
  • Assist with FRCC regulatory and compliance efforts, interfacing with FRCC staff and FRCC members.
  • Ability to support compliance with all Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) Transmission Planning requirements and apply relevant state laws and regulations.
  • Participate on inter-utility system working groups and perform related studies.
  • Provide technical support to other areas of Transmission and the company on Transmission Planning-related regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Represent company on industry drafting teams shaping industry standards.
  • Support OATT activities, including wholesale planning project justification and 7-factor/Mansfield testing.
  • Support the company's goals and represent the company in a positive professional manner with customers, consultants, and utility peers.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree
  • Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience (without a Professional Engineer certification) or 5 years of engineering experience (with a Professional Engineer certification)
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Knowledge and familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards
  • Knowledge of FERC Open Access Transmission Tariff requirements
  • Knowledge of FERC rules and orders
  • Experience working with legal documents
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in performing power flow, optimal power flow, and generator interconnection studies
  • Demonstrated work experience related to transmission or bulk power system operations
  • Proficient in engineering theories and principles
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations
  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to self-manage, set priorities, and establish goals.
