About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide support to EHS staff and business unit partners
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Support permitting and compliance activities related to floodplain ordinances, wetlands, erosion and sediment control, stormwater, and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act
  • Maintain current knowledge of environmental laws and regulations
  • Serve as subject matter expert for designated environmental programs and related compliance issues
  • Support the implementation of procedures and programs to assist business units in complying with environmental laws and regulations
  • Assist with tracking regulatory changes, legislative activities, and industry standards
  • Work with internal Subject Matter Experts and regulatory authorities to interpret regulations and laws
  • Provide support for completion of regulatory-required and internal environmental reports
  • Assist with assigned environmental training programs
  • Participate in preparation, submittal and negotiation of permits and permit renewals with authorities
  • Communicate permit requirements to facilities
  • Strive to continually develop and improve job-related, technical knowledge and skill to ensure that department expectations are met

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or other related degree
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, High School/GED and 4 years related work experience
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience for EHS Consultant
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree and 3 years' experience, High School/GED and 7 years related work experience
  • General understanding of Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), and Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Regulations
  • Experience with permitting and compliance activities related to floodplain ordinances, wetlands, erosion and sediment control, stormwater, and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act
  • Experience working with federal, state, or regulatory agencies
  • Experience in supporting environmental compliance at multiple facilities and/or within multiple regulatory jurisdictions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and successfully complete each of them within specified timeframes
  • Working toward certification(s) as an environmental professional (QEP, CHMM, PMP, etc.) is preferred
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills with a customer-oriented focus
