About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- developing and updating in-house transient analysis methodologies for power uprates and fuel cycle transitions
- performing UFSAR Chapter 15 accident analyses
- ensuring that each reload core design is performed in accordance with NRC approved methods
- preparing thorough and accurate technical reports and documentation
- collaborating with Duke, industry, vendor, and regulatory personnel
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- A Master 's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- 4-6 years of engineering experience
- Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience
- Experience with core and thermal hydraulic codes such as RETRAN and VIPRE or their equivalents
- Familiarity with the basic systems of a Westinghouse or B&W NSSS reactor
- Computer programming experience (FORTRAN/Python/VBA/etc.)
