About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • developing and updating in-house transient analysis methodologies for power uprates and fuel cycle transitions
  • performing UFSAR Chapter 15 accident analyses
  • ensuring that each reload core design is performed in accordance with NRC approved methods
  • preparing thorough and accurate technical reports and documentation
  • collaborating with Duke, industry, vendor, and regulatory personnel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • A Master 's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 4-6 years of engineering experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience
  • Experience with core and thermal hydraulic codes such as RETRAN and VIPRE or their equivalents
  • Familiarity with the basic systems of a Westinghouse or B&W NSSS reactor
  • Computer programming experience (FORTRAN/Python/VBA/etc.)
