About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform and review neutronic analyses of nuclear fuel assembly and reactor core designs
- Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, and documentation
- Develop, qualify, and maintain computer codes used in nuclear design analysis
- Collaborate/interface with Duke, industry, vendor, and regulatory personnel
- Participate in technical training activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- 4-6 years of engineering experience
- Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience
- Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer (for Sr Nuclear Engineer)
- Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license (desired qualifications)
- Experience with neutronics codes (e.g. ANC, PRISM, PANACEA, MICROBURN, and/or equivalents)
- Experience with PWR nuclear fuel and PWR reactor core design analyses
- Familiarity with the basic systems of a Westinghouse NSSS reactor
- Unix and/or Linux workstation experience
- Computer programming experience (FORTRAN/Python/VBA/etc.)
