About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • support the development and sustainment of advanced distribution automation standards
  • address increasing complexity of grid-edge automation driven by Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) integration
  • develop and maintain advanced automation and integration standards
  • perform advanced integration and testing
  • support validation and transition of automation technologies into production environments
  • translate project-specific automation requirements into standardized solutions
  • develop standard RTU architectures
  • support utilization and management the Operational & Automation Standards Control Hardware-in-the-Loop (CHIL) Lab
  • collaborate with Grid A&I on coordination with production CHIL lab environments
  • support technology refresh and testing needs
  • work closely with the Grid Systems team to support device integration, commissioning readiness, and transition to production
  • support vendor engagement and collaboration with the Emerging Technology Office on advanced automation concepts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering obtained from an ABET accredited program, OR a master’s degree in Engineering in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Minimum of four (4) years of engineering experience for Engineer III
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer for Senior Engineer
  • Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer for Senior Engineer
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Desired)
  • Experience in distribution automation, building or industrial control systems and RTUs, utility control systems, or grid-edge technologies (Desired)
  • Experience with RTU-based automation architectures, SCADA/ADMS integration, and engineering standards development (Desired)
  • Strong technical collaboration and communication skills (Desired)
