About the role

  • Solve problems in engineering areas of specialization with close supervision
  • Develop skills and the ability to work with greater independence
  • Provide engineering support, focusing on power plant systems and equipment
  • Perform engineering design for diverse generation including coal, natural gas, hydro, and solar facilities
  • Provide consultation, technical support, inspections, testing and training to maintain or improve technical integrity and safety of equipment
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches
  • Conduct basic engineering studies requiring little evaluation or ingenuity
  • Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Maintain accurate records and files
  • Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally

Requirements

  • Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree
  • Electrical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Experience with Power Plant or industrial electrical or control equipment
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Previous work experience providing engineering services for the utility industry
  • Previous work experience at a power generation facility
  • Proficient in principles of project management
  • Capable of learning quickly, working independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to constant changing of work needs and priorities
  • Demonstrated experience showing familiarity and knowledge of IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and other applicable codes and standards
  • Ability to satisfactorily meet the physical job requirements including walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, and climbing ladders.
