About the role

  • Engineering Technologist III or Senior Engineering Technologist position in Sandhills (NC) area within the Triangle South Zone.
  • Assigned to support Substation Optimization, System Capacity, Maintain, Highway DOT Relocation, and various Major Projects.
  • Location: Aberdeen, NC – Southern Pines Operation Center (Chatham County, Asheboro, Rockingham and Sanford possible).
  • Level depends on qualifications: Technologist III (third level) or Senior (fourth level).
  • Technologist III: provides technical expertise, oversight, works with some supervision, develops advanced skills.
  • Senior: provides technical expertise, manages work with minimal supervision, works independently with increased latitude.
  • Responsibilities include planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, monitoring work activities, preparing technical reports, conducting studies, emergency/storm support.
  • Working Conditions: Hybrid – remote and onsite after onboarding; must live within reasonable commute to designated facility.
  • Travel Requirements 5-15%.

Requirements

  • Provides deep technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
  • Conducts engineering and related studies.
  • Work storms at the operation center, zone, Carolinas, Florida, Midwest, and off system if needed.
  • May have to travel and assist with jobs in Area 262 (Henderson, Roxboro, and Zebulon) due to the workload.
  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Support emergency/storm events.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must possess all of the basic/required qualifications.
