About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary academic advisor for first- and second-year students within assigned residential quads
  • Guide students in course selection, degree planning, curriculum requirements, major exploration, and academic goal-setting
  • Help students understand academic policies, graduation requirements, grading options, and key institutional processes
  • Support students through academic challenges and transitions by connecting them with appropriate campus resources and support services
  • Maintain accurate, confidential advising records and proactively monitor student academic progress
  • Foster student growth through developmental advising practices that encourage independence, decision-making, and self-advocacy
  • Educate students about opportunities including undergraduate research, global education, internships, and pre-professional pathways
  • Supervise and mentor Quad Advisors, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development support
  • Design and facilitate academic and community-building programs that support student success and engagement
  • Collaborate with Academic Deans, Advising Leadership, faculty advisors, and campus partners to coordinate student support strategies
  • Contribute to the assessment and enhancement of advising programs and student support services.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree required
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in academic advising, student affairs, higher education administration, or a related educational setting
  • Demonstrated experience working with undergraduate students and academic policies
  • Expertise in academic advising, curriculum requirements, degree planning, and student success practices
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing professional staff
  • Commitment to inclusive excellence and culturally responsive advising practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with diverse student populations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with faculty, staff, and student support offices
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience maintaining confidential student records and exercising sound professional judgment
  • Proficiency with student information systems, advising technologies, and virtual engagement tools
  • Knowledge of FERPA and other relevant privacy and confidentiality regulations.
