About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care
  • Performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice
  • Assists medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients
  • Ensures the clinic/office runs smoothly
  • Answers telephones and greets patients
  • Updates and files patient medical records
  • Fills out insurance forms and handles correspondence
  • Schedules appointments and arranges for laboratory services
  • Assists medical and nursing staff in taking medical histories and recording vital signs
  • Prepares and administers medications as directed by a physician
  • Draws blood and prepares patients for x-rays, tests, and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred
  • High school or GED graduation required
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required
  • BLS required
  • No experience required for Level I
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting for Level II
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting for Level III
