About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for the collection of umbilical cord blood units for the Carolinas Cord Blood Bank
- Assist with education of the potential mother/donor about the Carolinas Cord Blood Bank
- Obtain delivery and neonatal information by reviewing medical records
- Ensure that the collection site phlebotomist collects maternal blood samples
- Collect the umbilical cord blood from the delivered placenta
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to identity of the maternal/infant donor pair
- Participate in the Quality Assurance Program for cord blood banking
Requirements
What you’ll need- Generally requires a bachelor's degree (biology, health science or related field preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification/experience preferred
- Bilingual skills, especially Spanish preferred
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong operational focus
- Good judgement
- Excellent organizational skills
- Customer service skills
- Data management including entering data
- Ability to focus and manage numerous detailed pieces of information
