About the role Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors of $100,000 and above, with a primary focus on engaging School of Medicine alumni Carry a portfolio of prospects capable of gifts of $100,000 or more and meet fundraising metric expectations, including dollars raised Utilize in-person, virtual, and phone meetings to cultivate and solicit donors and solicit multi-year pledges Engage senior administrators and faculty on fundraising initiatives and collaborate with Duke Health Development and University partners Maintain and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and use university-wide prospect tracking systems Develop contact reports, enter moves and data into tracking databases, and follow gift recording/acknowledgement procedures Represent the School of Medicine Development and Alumni Affairs team at meetings, events, and stewardship programs Travel to visit alumni prospects and donors as needed and perform other duties as assigned Contribute to a collaborative team environment and coordinate across multiple constituencies Requirements Campaign experience is desirable A passion for and knowledge of higher education fundraising with a preference for medicine/health experience Impeccable customer service skills Refined written and oral communication skills Experience and comfort in interacting with senior level executives Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Willingness and ability to master SAP-based database tools Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgment Ability to operate in a de-centralized, nuanced environment and handle confidential information Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively Proven ability to achieve results in a team setting; successful solicitor and team player Demonstrated patience, persistence, flexibility, and consensus-building skills Excellent presentation skills and persuasive, compelling writing Politically astute and able to navigate complex academic medical center environments Education: bachelor's degree required (or equivalent combination of education and/or experience) Experience: five (5) years of progressive fund-raising experience in a related organization with a proven track record in major gifts (or equivalent combination) comprehensive and competitive medical and dental care programs generous retirement benefits wide array of family-friendly and cultural programs flexible work arrangements (on-site, hybrid, remote, flexible start and end time work arrangements) ability to work a flexible schedule within DHDAA’s core work hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. eastern) support for secure home office environment and requirement for high-speed internet (for hybrid/remote schedules) Copy Applicant Tracking System Keywords Tip: use these terms in your resume and cover letter to boost ATS matches.
