About the role

  • Design, implement, facilitate, and market educational trainings, workshops, and lectures of the CSGD.
  • Evaluate and Assess trainings of the CSGD through regular quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office of Assessment.
  • Supervise the CSGD Graduate and Professional Assistants and Undergraduate Student Programming Assistants.
  • Coordinate the co-supervision model of all undergraduate Student Programming Assistants and Graduate Student Assistants.
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of Student Programming Assistants and Graduate Student Assistants.
  • Facilitate the professional development of Student Programming Assistants and Graduate Student Assistants.
  • Support CSGD in-group spaces and mentor student-led programs and initiatives.
  • Serve as an advisor to Undergraduate student groups Blue Devils United and Athlete Ally.
  • Work with the Director to oversee the budget and participate in budget planning and development especially as it pertains to student staff, training budgets, and assessment efforts.
  • Assist the Director in the writing of annual reports and accreditation reports.
  • Serve as a liaison to graduate and professional LGBTQIA+ student organizations.
  • Assist with the coordination of their training efforts for Graduate and Professional Schools.
  • Manage the CSGD Book and DVD Resource Library.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with other identity and cultural centers within the Division of Student Affairs, identity and cultural student organizations, alumni organizations and organizations that support the mission of the CSGD within the Duke University community and beyond.
  • Manage the Center’s daily operations and oversee programming and administrative tasks in the Director's absence.
  • Plan and market faculty and staff socials for each semester.
  • Coordinate with Faculty/Staff LGBTQIA+ affinity groups.
  • Update and maintain the CSGD website.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet departmental, Division and University goals and objectives, as assigned by their Supervisor, Director, or respective designees.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree program.
  • Minimum Experience Work generally requires two years experience in personnel, college or university administration, or a related field to acquire skills necessary to provide program management, advising, supervision, and general administrative support.
  • OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
  • Strongly Preferred Experiences: Experience with and knowledge of LGBTQIA+ communities.
  • Preferred Skills and Competencies Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and skills in social media.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice education.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with folks with marginalized identities including race/ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, and ability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with offering intersectional training & educational programs on LGBTQIA+ identities/issues and social justice.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the supervision of student staff.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience with the assessment of programs or services.
