About the role
- Manage and coordinate ophthalmic medical support staff and ophthalmic clinic service activities to achieve continuous and optimal patient care.
- Coordinate diagnostic and treatment activities of the clinic with services of other departments to ensure effective patient care.
- Participate in the preparation of department budget and make budgetary recommendations.
- Monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures, and develop cost-comparisons.
- Identify cost savings within the operation.
- Process data for preparation of composite reports and special projects.
Requirements
- Completion of Ophthalmic Technician and certification as a certified Ophthalmic Technician by Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
- Minimum of 6 years of ophthalmology clinic technical support related experience, of which 2 years must be in a leadership capacity.
- Diverse knowledge of patient care and eye problems.
- Extensive knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, physiology, and pharmaceuticals.
- Certification by JCAHPO at one of the following levels: COT or COMT.
