Assist in providing demand side energy conservation and energy efficiency opportunities, including reviews of energy consuming systems, maintenance functions, operating practices and physical conditions.
Perform utility usage pattern assessments and evaluations for energy reduction opportunities under guidance of senior team members.
Promote energy conservation and efficiency through best practices, energy conservation awareness education, new energy efficient technologies and energy usage analysis.
Identify and analyze energy conservation and energy efficiency improvement opportunities to optimize customer energy utilization.
Work with others to resolve billing issues, power quality issues, momentary outage resolution and other utility-related customer concerns.
Provide customers with energy optimization technical support for multiple energy sources including electricity, natural gas, steam, compressed air, and water.
Monitor and may develop energy awareness programs and activities.
Analyze and interpret financial and energy usage-related data, conduct energy assessments at facilities and develop recommendations and solutions.
Maintain utility consumption records and databases; compile, review, and analyze data and prepare reports for company leadership.
Support development of customers' annual energy budgets and provide project management support for implementation of energy-related projects.
Follow all safety procedures and, as required, work emergency storm assignment.
Requirements
Associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline and the knowledge and capabilities acquired through 3+ years of relevant job-related experience, such as experience in energy management.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline and interest in applying engineering knowledge in the field of energy management (degree-in-progress within nine months may be considered).
Understanding of energy conservation techniques and energy efficiency technology evaluations.
Intermediate analytical and project management skills, including scheduling, estimating and budgeting.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the company.
Desire to learn about existing and new products, services and technologies to optimize energy usage.
Ability to work in a team and/or matrix structure and initiate new ideas and approaches.
Problem solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key energy improvement-related issues.
Ability to perform basic financial and energy usage analyses and to provide recommendations to company leadership.
Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events.
