About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop electrical engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and analytical models throughout all phases of project delivery.
- Design electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems in accordance with applicable codes and engineering standards.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations, including load calculations, feeder sizing, panel schedules, circuiting, voltage drop, and equipment selection under the guidance of senior engineers when appropriate.
- Prepare coordinated construction documents, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, lighting plans, power plans, and supporting electrical design documentation.
- Utilize CAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to develop and coordinate accurate 2D drawings and 3D electrical models.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to deliver coordinated and constructible electrical system designs.
- Support construction administration by reviewing shop drawings, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), participating in site visits, and assisting with field coordination.
- Participate in internal and external project coordination meetings to communicate design progress, resolve technical issues, and support successful project execution.
- Maintain organized engineering documentation and contribute to continuous improvement through quality reviews, lessons learned, and adherence to engineering standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development by identifying development opportunities, expanding technical knowledge, and strengthening engineering judgment to prepare for increasing project responsibilities.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience) required.
- 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Active NCEES Record for licensure maintenance preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing commercial building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
- Proficiency with CAD and BIM software used for electrical engineering and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, engineering standards, and construction documentation practices.
- Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while working effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
