About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and design documentation throughout all phases of project delivery under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Develop electrical system layouts for power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems using applicable engineering principles, codes, and standards.
- Perform basic electrical engineering calculations, including load calculations, panel schedules, circuiting, and equipment layouts under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Produce coordinated construction documents, single-line diagrams, lighting plans, power plans, and supporting electrical design documentation.
- Utilize CAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to create and coordinate accurate 2D drawings and 3D electrical models.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, architects, designers, and other disciplines to develop coordinated and constructible electrical system designs.
- Support construction administration activities by reviewing shop drawings, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), participating in site visits, and assisting with field coordination.
- Incorporate quality control feedback and review comments to improve the accuracy, coordination, and constructability of electrical deliverables.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and contribute to successful multidisciplinary project execution.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to expand technical knowledge and engineering capabilities.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) required.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical design or building systems engineering required.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
- Active NCEES Record for future Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
- Proficiency with CAD and BIM software used for electrical design and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, engineering standards, and construction documentation practices.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while working effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
