About the role
- Associate Lead Programmer role based in Middlesbrough, UK, leading a skilled code team and collaborating with designers, artists and other disciplines to deliver game titles
- Lead and mentor a small team of programmers, supporting their professional development
- Design, develop, test, and implement high-quality systems and gameplay code
- Conduct code reviews to maintain technical standards and improve code quality across the team
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and publishing teams to deliver the highest possible quality titles
- Work closely with production to define the project roadmap and deliver milestones according to schedule
- Participate in regular client meetings, serving as a technical point of contact for the project
- Focus on code optimisation, performance improvement, and ensuring top-tier code quality
Requirements
- Excellent knowledge and practical expertise in C++ programming
- Proven experience as an Associate Lead or Senior Programmer, ready to step into a larger leadership role
- Hands-on experience working with Unreal Engine
- Strong background in code optimisation and performance improvement
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to mentor and coach a small team of programmers, supporting professional development and maintaining high technical standards
- Skilled at breaking down complex projects into structured, achievable tasks to meet deadlines efficiently
