About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Execute EW’s strategy, content, and audience development on social platforms
Work closely with EW’s Social Media Director as well as video, edit, and sales teams in exploring and developing strategy for emerging platforms
Execute social-first or social-only original franchises, including short or platform-specific video series
Secure social content from photo shoots, red carpets, and other exclusive opportunities
Conduct interviews both on- and off-camera
Support EW partnerships such as award shows, tentpole events, parties, panels and screenings
Capture and quickly turn around high-quality video content from events
Collaborate with SEO, growth and other audience analysts to understand and strategize how to expand audience reach

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum 2-5 years of digital and/or social media experience, preferably with at least one major role at a news organization
Proven ability to build and grow audiences for entertainment content via social media, particularly among younger audiences
Impeccable news judgment, prioritization, writing and editing skills
Calm under pressure of breaking news
A strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask
A strategic thinker who considers analytics before making decisions
An idea generator who can think of new, fresh ways to package content
Excellent people skills
Experience with SEO, content management systems, analytics tools, Photoshop
