About the role
- Partner with plant manager and others in providing assistance to promote increased employee performance and organizational development.
- Evaluate programs and practices to ensure they remain consistent with plant and HR goals and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with plant and corporate policies and procedures as well as legal compliance of federal and state requirements.
- Determine interpretation and application of policies and procedures to promote problem resolution.
- Administer and maintain timekeeping, payroll processing and attendance records.
- File reports and manage workers compensation and unemployment claims through compliance reporting needs.
- Manage local records and reporting in the Human Resource Information and Workforce Management Systems.
- Maintain a high level of confidential or sensitive information with timely decision-making capabilities.
- Lead DEI efforts and community involvement efforts.
- Maintain a strategic partnership with all local community partners.
- Develop and maintain affirmative action program; file EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports, and logs to confirm to EEO regulations.
- Partner with Corporate HR to lead key HR initiatives across local site in the areas of Compensation; Policy and Procedure Administration; Talent Management; and Training & Development.
- Ensure leadership culture and coaching to drive a performance culture, aligned with Domtar values and behaviors throughout the business.
- Lead and manage employee relations investigations.
- Act as a change management leader with strong emphasis on operations and productivity improvements.
- Facilitate recruitment efforts locally to find key talent and build partnerships with the local community, universities and relocation programs to strengthen Domtar’s brand.
- Recruitment efforts include full-cycle support and requisition management - candidate screening, testing, selection processes and onboarding.
- Lead and drive the succession planning with HR leadership team ensure alignment with corporate and site goals/mission.
- Analyze turnover data to identify trends and elevate information to stakeholders for recommendations.
- Partner and coach key leaders to deliver reviews and performance plans.
- Develop and maintain a positive partnership with union leadership to ensure sustainable business operations and results.
- Manage all compliance related issues including EEOC, OFCCP, OSHA, ADA and Workers Compensation matters.
- Coach leaders and employees through complex performance management including investigations and escalate issues to the appropriate management team.
- Administer business initiatives and continue to promote employee concerns and or engagement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 4-6 years of experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in a manufacturing/paper mill setting.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience coaching managers and employees for effective skill building.
- Basic experience with applicant tracking systems, running I-9 verifications, ordering background and drug screens.
- Advanced proficiencies in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); knowledge in Outlook preferred.
