About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
  • Help customers and address questions or concerns
  • Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor
  • Maintain seasonal areas, sales floor, stockroom, and store-front fixtures and displays
  • Perform opening and closing procedures
  • Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
  • Assist with ordering merchandise and processing damaged merchandise
  • Maintain payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention records
  • Protect and secure company assets and store cash
  • Enforce safety guidelines and company policies and procedures
  • Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
  • Maintain a positive, safe, respectful, professional, and friendly environment
  • Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas presentable
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
  • Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height
  • Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
  • Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are required
  • May be required to provide detailed background information to obtain local licenses for stores selling alcohol and/or tobacco
