About the role
- Develop and maintain a global licensing roadmap aligned with expansion plans; track renewals and conditions across jurisdictions
- Lead license submissions and renewals for payments, e-money, lending, FX, and crypto; manage external counsel and consultants
- Act as HQ liaison with regulators and attend key meetings with Country Heads to build regulator relationships
- Ensure appointment and effectiveness of local regulatory role-holders (Compliance Officer, MLRO, CISO, Directors)
- Coordinate with CLO, Country Heads, and Global Function Owners; report on licensing status, risks, and timelines
- Deliver licenses on time with zero missed renewals and maintain regulator satisfaction and audit/inspection outcomes
- Embed licensing into business strategy to enable growth while ensuring regulatory alignment
Requirements
- 10+ years in fintech, payments, banking, or regulated financial services
- Direct experience with licensing frameworks (e-money, payments, transmission, banking, crypto)
- Strong project management skills across multiple jurisdictions
- Proven regulator relationship management expertise
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into operational execution
- Comfortable working in a matrixed environment (HQ vs. local vs. functional teams)
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- (Nice-to-have) Global exposure to international licensing standards and adapting best practices to emerging markets
- (Nice-to-have) Deep understanding of fintech/payment models and licensing strategy
- (Nice-to-have) Portuguese language skills highly valued
- (Nice-to-have) Experience influencing senior stakeholders and embedding accountability in compliance processes
