About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Research, outline, draft, and revise comprehensive Databricks and Snowflake cost management guides
- Structure complex technical material for data practitioners
- Own the full revision cycle with internal SMEs and external technical reviewers
- Produce at least two technical blog posts per month on Databricks and Snowflake cost and query optimization
- Write from observed patterns and specific data rather than marketing assertions
- Adapt long-form assets or develop standalone posts tied to product releases, platform updates, or practitioner pain points
- Develop research outlines, speaker scripts, and slide frameworks for live and on-demand webinars
- Collaborate with internal engineers and external practitioners on webinar structure
- Ensure accuracy and depth of webinar content
- Extend coverage to Snowflake and BigQuery as the program grows
- Map transferable concepts across platforms while preserving technical distinctions
- Run workstreams independently from research through publish-ready draft
- Integrate into collaborative review processes with subject-matter experts, contracted technical writers, and others
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 to 8 years of technical content experience
- Portfolio demonstrating depth in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, or adjacent fields
- Demonstrated ability to write for Databricks and Snowflake practitioners, including data engineers, analytics engineers, platform engineers, or FinOps specialists
- Hands-on familiarity with Databricks and Snowflake, including cluster configuration, job compute, and cost levers
- Ebook and long-form guide experience, including structure, pacing, and making dense material readable without dumbing it down
- Ability to operate at senior level by driving workstreams, setting a research agenda, and proactively flagging accuracy issues
- Strong editorial judgment
- Strong preference: direct experience writing about BigQuery or other cloud data warehouse and lakehouse platforms
- Strong preference: familiarity with FinOps concepts applied to data infrastructure, including cloud cost allocation, showback/chargeback, and spend optimization
- Strong preference: experience writing webinar scripts or technical presentation materials
- Strong preference: practitioner background transitioned into technical writing
