About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and communicate product vision for the legacy-to-REST migration aligned to VA mission and veteran/staff user needs
- Develop and maintain a prioritized product roadmap
- Establish and track product success metrics and outcomes
- Conduct stakeholder discovery with VA program stakeholders
- Own and prioritize the product backlog
- Translate migration requirements into features, epics, and user stories
- Balance feature development with technical debt, compliance, and operational needs
- Coordinate trade-off decisions with VA leadership
- Partner with engineers, DevOps, and Experience Design to deliver migration capabilities
- Facilitate agile ceremonies including planning, refinement, demos, and retrospectives
- Ensure development aligns with product goals and acceptance criteria
- Represent veteran and VA staff users
- Engage VA stakeholders to gather feedback and refine priorities
- Communicate product progress, roadmap updates, and outcome metrics to leadership
- Monitor product performance and usage metrics post-migration
- Identify opportunities to improve usability, adoption, and business impact
- Iterate based on data, stakeholder feedback, and evolving VA mission needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, or related roles
- Experience defining and delivering digital products or enterprise software solutions
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in agile environments
- Experience with healthcare IT modernization or legacy system migration initiatives
- Agile or delivery certifications (e.g., PMP, SAFe, CSM)
- Experience developing product roadmaps and managing product backlogs
- Familiarity with agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Scrum)
- Experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate mission needs into clear product requirements
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority
- Strong analytical, prioritization, and decision-making skills
- U.S. citizenship required
- Preferred: Experience with VA appointment systems, VistaLink, or similar scheduling/communication platforms
- Preferred: Experience managing legacy-to-REST or legacy modernization migration initiatives
- Preferred: Familiarity with VA/VistA domain concepts or comparable federal healthcare systems
