About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Inspect equipment for rental readiness and safe operation
  • Maintain Tool Rental Centre large-equipment parking-lot standards and three points of security on towable equipment
  • Complete preventative maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs according to OEM specifications
  • Perform select equipment repairs and order parts as needed
  • Complete D365 work orders with notes, parts, and repair information
  • Maintain fleet inventory accuracy and GPS system operation
  • Maintain parts inventory in the vehicle and/or shop location
  • Assist with equipment deliveries and pick-ups
  • Deploy new equipment to stores, perform pre-delivery inspections, deliver equipment, and train store associates on the large-equipment rental process
  • Communicate with store TRC associates, teammates, and customers
  • Assist with turn guides and check-in/check-out processes
  • Support customers and rental associates throughout the rental period
  • Respond to customer service calls, provide status updates, coordinate repairs, and arrive onsite within 24 hours
  • Maintain vehicle compliance, ELD/HOS driver logs, inspections, and vehicle documentation
  • Review open work orders and follow up on parts requests pending over five days
  • Coordinate daily action plans and service strategies with the Lead Rental Technician as needed
  • Follow safety, driving, lifting, PPE, Hazmat, and company procedures
  • Maintain MEWP certifications and store inspection compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid Driver’s License for the province you reside in and good driving record
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Must pass a background check
  • Resides within 25 kms of the target city or willing to commute to the base location
  • Regular scheduled shifts may include weekends and work outside regularly scheduled shifts
  • Working knowledge of handheld technology, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and applications
  • Must provide own standard tools used in the trade/craft
  • Ability to diagnose and complete general maintenance and minor repairs involving engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and understand technical repair and parts manuals
  • Working understanding of safe load securement, tie-downs, and transport
  • Working knowledge of Ministry of Transportation guidelines and safety regulations
  • Ability to respond to customer inquiries or complaints and exceed customer expectations
  • Experience in equipment rental, auto/truck mechanics, oil and gas mechanical work, or light industrial equipment; mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, troubleshoot, and draw valid conclusions
  • Basic knowledge of compact construction equipment, including trenching and earthmoving machinery
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, reach, and stretch
  • Ability to work at heights and climb onto equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and around dirt, grease, fumes, oils, chemicals, and loud noises
