About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee compliance with Colombian fintech regulations, including obligations under the SFC and UIAF, ensuring the company's operations remain aligned with evolving local requirements.
- Maintain and update the repository of compliance obligations applicable to the Colombian market, keeping pace with regulatory changes.
- Conduct ongoing regulatory monitoring and serve as the primary point of contact with local regulatory bodies.
- Oversee the day-to-day application of AML/KYC controls at the operational level, ensuring processes meet SAGRILAFT and PTEE requirements.
- Identify, assess, and manage financial crime risks, implementing corrective actions and escalating issues where necessary.
- Review and support merchant and counterparty onboarding processes, applying risk-based due diligence criteria.
- Monitor transaction activity for red flags and coordinate with global compliance and risk teams on alerts, investigations, and escalations.
- Prepare and submit required regulatory reports, including thematic compliance reports and the annual self-assessment of the internal control system.
- Support banking relationship management by providing compliance documentation and responding to due diligence requests from financial partners.
- Track and follow up on recommendations from internal audits and control reviews, particularly those related to AML and KYC.
- Enforce adherence to the company's risk control framework across local departments, promoting a practical culture of compliance rather than a purely procedural one.
- Continuously assess and update the risk register for Colombian operations, overseeing incident logging and resolution tracking.
- Deliver compliance training to operational staff, with a focus on AML/KYC obligations and fintech-specific regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with global compliance, legal, and product teams to ensure local requirements are reflected in processes and controls.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Law, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field — we welcome candidates from either a legal or financial background.
- 4–6 years of experience in compliance, AML, or KYC roles within the banking or fintech sector in Colombia.
- Solid working knowledge of Colombia's financial crime regulatory framework, including SAGRILAFT, PTEE, SFC regulations, and UIAF reporting obligations.
- Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring, onboarding reviews, and regulatory reporting.
- Clear, direct communicator — able to translate regulatory complexity into practical guidance for non-compliance teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment with competing priorities.
- Fluent in Spanish and English (required given the international nature of the role).
