About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the Credit and Collections & Recovery teams.
- Deliver timely, commercially balanced credit recommendations within stated credit parameters.
- Make credit decisions within the role’s authority level.
- Lead the Credit team and ensure smooth operation of the credit approval process.
- Ensure customer credit applications are reviewed according to company risk appetite and credit policies.
- Prepare credit application reports for senior risk officers and the risk committee.
- Write high-quality credit applications and reviews for larger exposures.
- Oversee Collections and Recoveries, manage difficult cases, and minimize overdue debts.
- Apply European Banking Authority definitions and procedures relating to default obligations.
- Initiate and support development of automated decisioning models.
- Support fraud awareness and training.
- Oversee the Risk Control Framework for Credit, C&R, and broader risk areas.
- Oversee portfolio performance and implement proactive collection strategies.
- Support management and monitoring of the Commercial Finance portfolio and credit lines.
- Minimize operational incidents.
- Oversee and manage the DLL Ireland portfolio and regular portfolio-quality reporting.
- Represent Risk in local credit and risk committees.
- Support onboarding of new vendor/supplier programs from a Risk and Credit perspective.
- Ensure transaction-level regulatory compliance, including the Consumer Protection Code and SME Regulations.
- Guide wider Operations and Commercial teams.
- Complete or review annual large exposure reviews, including scoring, rating, and annual re-ratings.
- Support process improvement using a lean approach.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in credit management at a credit institution or financial institution.
- Strong financial acumen with expert understanding of credit review and management.
- Experience in analysing and executing large value structured transactions across various industries / sectors.
- Advanced financial analysis skills, with a thorough understanding of key financial metrics such as repayment ability, profitability, and operational performance.
- Strong understanding of industry risk, asset risk and structure risk.
- Ability to conduct in-depth evaluations, offer expert recommendations, and craft compelling credit memos for senior management.
- Commercially aware with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- Organized and task-focused problem solver, comfortable working in complex environments.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with ability to provide regular updates on lending activities and offer strategic insights to senior management and the Board.
- Capable of maintaining effective relationships with customers, team members and internal stakeholders.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to daily workload.
- Confidence engaging with end user clients regarding structuring credit requests.
- Qualified Financial Analyst qualification (QFA) or equivalent qualification.
- Successful completion of a background check.
