About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and Canadian employees
- Manage payroll schedules, reconciliations, and reporting cycles
- Partner with Finance, HR, and external vendors to ensure payroll integration and data integrity
- Maintain knowledge of payroll legislation, tax laws, and regulatory changes in the United States and Canada
- Ensure compliance with payroll audits, filings, and remittances involving IRS, CRA, and state/provincial agencies
- Lead internal controls and risk mitigation strategies for payroll and tax compliance
- Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team
- Set performance goals and provide feedback and coaching
- Promote cross-training and knowledge sharing
- Identify and implement process enhancements
- Leverage technology and automation to streamline payroll operations and reporting
- Monitor KPIs and SLAs
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll inquiries and escalations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on business initiatives, workforce changes, and compliance requirements
- Provide strategic payroll insights and reporting to senior leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field; CPP or PCP certification preferred
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven expertise in both U.S. and Canadian payroll processing and tax compliance
- Strong understanding of payroll systems and HRIS integrations
- Advanced proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and/or ADP GlobalView for payroll processing and reporting
- Experience with Oracle HCM Cloud for payroll data management, integrations, and reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Successful completion of a background check
- Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Burlington, Ontario
