About the role
- Run sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives; maintain focus on outcomes, not ceremony
- Own and enforce a smooth Jira process that supports high-velocity development
- Coordinate across departments to clarify requirements and unblock work
- Partner with the Head of Engineering to align on roadmap priorities, capacity, and timelines
- Coordinate and communicate around releases, ensuring QA and key stakeholders are looped in
- Be the go-to resource for your team - triaging issues, escalating when needed, and removing blockers
- Continue a culture of speed, ownership, and solution-oriented thinking
- Work with the Head of Engineering to define KPIs that reflect our performance culture - motivating developers without resorting to vanity metrics
- Set a high bar for engineering culture, velocity, and quality
- Install a culture of AI-first thinking across the team to boost individual and team-wide efficiency
- Champion the daily use of AI tools across engineering workflows (planning, documentation, communication, debugging)
Requirements
- Experienced engineering leader with 5+ years in an engineering management or tech lead role, preferably at a startup or fast-paced environment
- Background in software engineering (you can speak fluently with devs, even if you’re not writing code daily)
- Expert in Agile development and sprint operations; expert level knowledge of Jira
- Comfortable working independently and remotely, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Operates with ownership and urgency - doesn’t wait for direction to fix what’s broken or push things forward
- Passion for AI tooling and automation to reduce grunt work and boost team velocity
- Organized, proactive, and capable of operating in ambiguity while driving clarity
- Experience managing distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
- Passionate about building empowered, high-output teams
- Located in or available to work full-time in the EST timezone
