About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle new business accounts through outbound interaction with various carriers and brokers.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal sales staff on new business submissions.
- Underwrite habitational risks by identifying and analyzing risk exposures, loss frequency and severity against desired coverage.
- Develop relationships with both external and internal customers, with the "customer experience" in mind, and deliver exceptional experiences with every interaction, in all modes of communication.
- Provide and create solutions for a broad range of inquiries from brokers and team members.
- Adhere to rating rules with proper file documentation.
- Navigate our online broker portal to complete tasks and troubleshoot.
- Identify opportunities to improve underwriting efficiencies.
- Work independently within deadlines while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with stakeholders.
- Obtain and understand market intel and trends.
- Handle work with a focus on underwriting profitability.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 2 years of commercial property underwriting E&S experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding of habitational P&C policies preferred.
- Property and Casualty insurance license preferred (6 months preparation time permitted).
- Eager for continual learning; professional designations are a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including negotiation skills.
- Must be self-driven, detail-oriented, comfortable in a growing ever-changing organization, and have strong organizational skills including time-management and prioritization.
- Some travel may be required from time to time for team and broker meetings.
