About the role
- Manage, mentor & lead a team of engineers and technical application leads in building and maintaining MGA-specific applications.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to align technology solutions with underwriting, distribution, and operational goals.
- Create, socialize and execute the application portfolio strategy.
- Drive agile development practices and continuous improvement across the application lifecycle.
- Oversee development and enhancement of core MGA systems including policy administration, Underwriting, Billing, Claims, External facing portal, CRM and document management.
- Manage integrations with third-party data source, and systems.
- Manage a remote team of engineers supporting various applications.
- Coordinate with external vendors and partners to implement and maintain solutions.
- Evaluate new technologies and platforms for potential adoption within the MGA ecosystem.
- Ensure applications meet regulatory, security, and data privacy requirements.
- Maintain documentation and enforce coding standards and best practices.
- Manage the SDLC process for all applications, including auditing and conforming to compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10-15 + years of experience in application development, technical lead and solution architecture roles, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
- 7+ years of experience in P&C – commercial insurance.
- Strong understanding of MGA operations and insurance technology platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), APIs, and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Unqork, Vertafore MGA Systems, Image Right, Coherent Spark, Azure Integrations Services and Workday.
- Excellent communication, management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong Knowledge of commercial insurance (MGA) business including Admitted, E&S, understanding of Reinsurance and Llyod’s market (BONUS POINTS).
- Experience working as an Enterprise Architect or Business Architect (BONUS POINTS).
- Familiarity with AI tools supporting Insurance processes (BONUS POINTS).
