About the role

  • DISCO is a music-focused digital asset management and discovery platform, trusted by labels, studios and creators with 150+ million tracks.
  • Head of Engineering role to build high-performance engineering teams, drive technical excellence, and deliver high-quality products.
  • Reporting to the COO: directly supervise engineering managers and some engineers, partner with People to attract talent, foster an engaged outcome-driven culture, and provide continuous feedback.
  • Responsible for high-quality, high-velocity execution of the engineering org, identifying and optimising processes to maximise efficiency, and unblocking teams to hit deadlines.
  • Anticipate scaling challenges and collaborate on scalable solutions; collaborate with product, support and GTM; assist GTM with landing and serving large customers.
  • Partner with product to keep DISCO ahead of competitors and evaluate buy/build/partner decisions in the music-tech landscape.

Requirements

  • Proven leader who has successfully taken high-performance engineering teams through scaling (company size 70-100+, engineering team 20-40+)
  • Strong record of hiring and developing great, diverse talent
  • 7+ years of engineering leadership experience, including experience overseeing an engineering org of 20+
  • Comfortable operating by motivating teams via managers and directly with engineers
  • Experience managing hybrid and remote teams across multiple time zones
  • 3+ years overseeing development of AI/ML products with successful outcomes
  • Experience delivering and maintaining B2B web apps; consumer-facing product experience preferred
  • Strong sense of urgency to deliver results and inspire the team
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Strong architectural experience
  • Willingness to dive into code and get hands dirty when needed
  • Strong technical mastery with curiosity and commitment to continuous learning
