About the role

  • Disc Medicine is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing, and commercializing novel treatments for patients with serious hematologic diseases by targeting heme biosynthesis and iron homeostasis.
  • Regional Business Director (US East) responsible for strategically building a high-performing sales team to execute the U.S. commercial launch strategy.
  • Oversee Salesforce-enabled lead programs and ensure compliant, science-driven customer engagement to achieve forecasted patient demand.
  • Identify, recruit, lead, and develop a regional team of Rare Disease Specialists; drive field execution of national sales strategy and achieve regional revenue targets.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Sales Operations, Training, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services) to maximize sales opportunities and ensure aligned HCP engagement.
  • Coordinate territory and regional performance metrics, optimize CRM adoption, and serve as the field voice to headquarters.
  • Represent the company at national and regional conferences and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of commercial sales experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, including at least 3 years in a leadership role in regional or national sales, market access, and/or marketing.
  • Proven experience in patient identification and pull-through, utilizing established relationships with dermatologists and hematologists.
  • Demonstrated disease and startup biotech environments. Hematology and/or Dermatology experience preferred.
  • Success in building and scaling field organizations, particularly in rare disease.
  • Experience launching early-stage therapies or building commercial infrastructure for pre-commercial products is strongly preferred.
  • Strong scientific acumen with the ability to interpret clinical data, lead scientifically credible teams, and engage confidently with healthcare professionals.
  • Deep understanding of CRM, lead funnel management, territory planning, and call execution.
  • Solid understanding of payer landscape, patient-access programs, and reimbursement models in rare disease treatment.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret and act on regional performance analytics.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High emotional intelligence with the proven ability to lead remote teams and build cross-functional trust.
  • Sound knowledge of compliance frameworks, including the Sunshine Act, HIPAA, and FDA promotional regulations.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and effective in dynamic, rapidly evolving commercial settings.
