About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Analyse operational and business data to identify automation opportunities and prioritise initiatives
Measure and report on the effectiveness and impact of automation implementations
Review existing processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
Develop current-state and future-state process maps to support automation strategies
Identify systems with API capabilities and assess integration opportunities
Design and implement automation solutions leveraging APIs and native integrations
Collaborate with vendors and technology partners to improve integration capabilities
Document all integrations and maintain technical standards
Design and implement workflow automation solutions across business and operational systems
Deploy workflow engines and automation platforms to improve efficiency and consistency
Train internal teams on automation capabilities and workflow utilisation
Continuously improve automation frameworks and operational processes
Create and maintain technical documentation, process maps, and standard operating procedures
Document automation solutions, workflows, and system integrations
Communicate process improvements and operational changes across the organisation
Deliver training and enablement activities to maximise automation adoption
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
Support infrastructure automation and cloud platform optimisation
Implement governance, security controls, and operational best practices
Contribute to software development, platform reliability, and service improvement initiatives
Work closely with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver technical solutions
Support billable project work and client-facing automation initiatives
Provide technical guidance and recommendations aligned with business objectives
Collaborate across teams to ensure successful delivery outcomes and continuous improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar roles
Experience working within MSP, managed services, or client-facing technology environments
Proven experience delivering cloud-based solutions and automation initiatives
Experience participating in project planning, technical discovery, and solution design activities
Background in implementing security and governance practices within cloud or software platforms
Advanced Python development skills
Strong software engineering fundamentals and development best practices
Extensive experience with API integrations and automation frameworks
Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation expertise
Bash/Shell scripting experience
Strong SQL development and database querying capabilities
Experience designing scalable automation and workflow solutions
Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
Hands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines
Infrastructure automation experience
Experience managing source control repositories using GitHub and GitLab
Knowledge of cloud-native technologies and architectures
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices
Experience implementing security controls and governance frameworks
Ability to scope, design, and document technical solutions
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
Understanding of secure software development and operational best practices
Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, Bicep, or similar tools
AI integration, automation, and generative AI tooling experience
Exposure to C++ or additional modern programming languages
Open-source development experience
MSP automation and systems integration experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management abilities
Passion for delivering exceptional customer outcomes
Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across technical, operational, and client-facing teams
Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism
