About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and execute DigitalOcean's global datacenter site selection and acquisition strategy
Lead the entire lifecycle of datacenter acquisition from initial market research to negotiating contracts
Build and maintain relationships with top-tier global providers and drive vendor performance
Partner closely with Finance to build Total Cost of Ownership models
Collaborate with Legal and Datacenter Operations to ensure all facilities meet standards
Continuously monitor the global datacenter and energy markets for supply constraints and pricing trends

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of experience in technical sourcing, real estate acquisition, or infrastructure procurement
Proven track record of negotiating and closing complex, high-value datacenter contracts
Understanding of credit markets and counterparty deal structures
Deep understanding of datacenter mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure
Advanced financial modeling skills and ability to translate complex deal structures into clear TCO analysis
Exceptional communication skills for distilling complex market dynamics into actionable strategies
High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
