About the role
- Contribute to daily site operation, including creation and modification of site operating procedures
- Create and modify change management tickets and Method of Procedures (MOPs) for low risk preventative maintenance and repairs
- Create/edit/resolve/close incident reports and perform timely incident reporting
- Perform site maintenance, repairs and inspections to ensure data center availability
- Gain complete understanding of facility layout, MEP systems, equipment nomenclature, facility drawings and equipment specifications
- Monitor BMS alarm functionality, alarm escalation/acknowledgement, and extract data and trends
- Use CMMS to create, edit, implement and close work orders
- Supervise construction activity and installations as required
- Troubleshoot site mechanical and electrical systems and respond to unplanned events without immediate supervision
- Complete rounds/inspections and detect anomalies during those rounds
- Develop or improve SOPs for site specific equipment
- Support accreditation initiatives (SSAE16, SOC2, ISO 27001 etc.) and complete DLR Critical Awareness Training
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in mission critical facilities operating / engineering or equivalent equipment experience (UPS, HVAC, generators, fire/life safety systems)
- Hands-on electrical or mechanical skill and competence in the area of non-expertise
- Strong knowledge of various UPS Systems and architectures
- Strong knowledge of various cooling systems and architectures
- Strong understanding of infrastructure redundancy configurations and equipment and their risks (N+1, 2N, ATS/STS, Failover Scenarios)
- Strong knowledge of energy efficiency principals
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Detail Oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; familiarity with Microsoft Project, Adobe Acrobat, Visio or AutoCad
- Basic understanding of emergency situations and escalation processes
- Strong understanding of CMMS, DCIM, and power metering systems
- Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, and stretch as required
- Ability to work under a raised data center floor
- Ability to climb ladders (up to 16 feet) to reach plenum spaces
- High School Graduate
