About the role

  • Evaluate and implement tax planning strategies related to M&A, capital-market transactions, product support and tax planning within the REIT framework
  • Partner with internal teams (acquisition, legal, finance, portfolio management) and external advisors in reviewing transaction documents and negotiating tax related provisions in support of deal execution
  • Lead all aspects of U.S. tax and REIT matters related to DLR’s strategic private capital and international joint-ventures and portfolio companies
  • Oversee DLR REIT compliance and qualification testing, including income and asset tests, and REIT due diligence
  • Oversee tax compliance and reporting related to the global DLR structure that includes joint-ventures and private capital platform
  • Providing support and guidance related to tax operational matters including budgeting, planning and communications with relevant internal stakeholders
  • Develop and implement Global REIT compliance/Tax policies and procedures that are scalable for growth
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting REITs and the real estate industry and provide real-time guidance to the business in navigating law changes
  • Manage, mentor, and develop team members to be best-in-class by fostering an ownership, growth-oriented, and high-performance culture
  • Partner with accounting teams to support tax disclosures on financial statements and maintain internal tax controls and documentation to ensure SOX compliance
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with external tax advisors (law and accounting firms) and manage related budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; Law/MST/CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or similar industry roles
  • Deep technical knowledge of REIT, partnership and inbound taxation for non-U.S. investors, including compliance and reporting strategies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex tax matters to senior leadership and non-tax stakeholders
  • Proven leadership and team/project management experience.
