About the role
- Lead and scale diconium’s Android Automotive team to architect, design, and develop the application layer of a next‑gen infotainment platform for a major OEM.
- Deliver brand‑defining apps and services (Appstore, Navigation, Charging, Entertainment) focused on the customer-facing layer.
- Combine business growth with high-level architecture leadership across AAOS, HMI, and backend; bridge executives and engineering.
- Build and lead a high-performing team developing Android background services and in-car apps including UX, UI and GUI.
- Provide consulting and hands-on technical work on HMI, Android Automotive, and digital vehicle platforms.
- Collaborate closely with US-based platform partners and manage international interfaces.
- Define and evolve enterprise and software architectures within the OEM emphasizing scalability, reusability and brand-specific requirements.
- Drive technical design discussions and ensure seamless integration of new components into the existing OEM system landscape (primarily in Germany).
Requirements
- Must have shipped infotainment software into production vehicles.
- 10+ years of experience in software development.
- 5+ years of experience in AAOS/HMI architecture and delivery.
- Credible technical depth across AAOS, HMI frameworks, and backend/cloud.
- Familiarity with current industry standards, especially Android Automotive development.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic vision and technical leadership.
- Android Automotive (App Layer/Framework: Activities, Fragments, Compose UI; adapting apps to Center Display, Cluster, HUD; input handling via touch, voice, steering wheel controls).
- Android background services: JobScheduler, WorkManager, Foreground Services, Intents, AIDL, Binder.
- Interaction with Vehicle HAL via system APIs (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, networking).
- Programming languages: Java and Kotlin; C/C++ via NDK when needed.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Location: Germany or US (hybrid/remote possible).
