About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contribute across all phases of planning and urban design projects - from analysis and visioning through to concept development, policy direction, and implementation strategies
  • Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team and engage diverse clients, stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and the public
  • Plan, organize, and lead stakeholder engagement and public consultation processes, including facilitating meetings, preparing materials, and delivering presentations as well as summarizing input and preparing engagement summaries
  • Work on a wide range of projects, from site-specific plans to area-wide policies and master plans, as well as design guidelines
  • Conduct research, analysis, and studies to inform policy development and design outcomes, including best practices in urban design, sustainability, and related fields
  • Prepare and coordinate visual and communication materials, including 2D/3D diagrams, models, presentations, and proposal graphics
  • Prepare compelling reports and other written materials that are clear, well structured, highly visual, and tailored to the audience
  • Coordinate project tasks, timelines, and deliverables, while independently leading regular client meetings and supporting overall project management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in urban design, planning, architecture, landscape architecture, or related field (master’s degree is preferred), with 5–10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong skills in graphic representation (e.g., massing studies, visualizations, diagrams) and proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Rhino, and/or SketchUp
  • Effective communicator with strong written, visual, and verbal skills to convey design, process, policy concepts, and implementation strategies
  • Collaborative, inclusive, and people-focused, with the ability to engage meaningfully with diverse stakeholders
  • Creative and thoughtful, with experience in innovative and accessible engagement approaches and a passion for human-centered design
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable - able to manage complexity, respond to changing project needs, and take initiative as a proactive self-starter
