About the role
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives).
- Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values.
- Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the blocker.
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
- Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
- Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
- Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
- Support and educate the Product Owner, especially on refinement and maintaining the product backlog.
- Provide all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and leading by example.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand, confirm and document business processes /requirements in user stories with acceptance criteria
- Partner with technical leads to decompose epic/feature-level backlog items into user stories with acceptance criteria.
Requirements
- Active Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance. MBI Letter preferred.
- Proven 5+ years' experience as a Scrum Master in a software development environment, specifically with legacy modernization projects involving Java, Oracle and/or APIs.
- Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
- Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
- Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I) is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is strongly preferred
