About the role

  • The Oracle Database Developer will join our database migration and optimization team.
  • This role will focus on complex database system migrations, performance optimization, and data integrity solutions in enterprise environments with high-volume transaction processing.
  • The role is in support of a large, mission critical IRS modernization effort to replace a decades-old legacy system (Pro*C, Oracle 21) with a new, scalable, secure, and transformative case management system (Oracle Exadata, Java Spring Boot microservices, using OpenShift)
  • Key Responsibilities: Merge complex Oracle database migrations to Exadata platforms
  • Lead complex Oracle database migrations from legacy systems to modern Exadata platforms
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks, memory issues, and temp space problems
  • Data Integrity Management: Ensure data consistency and integrity across multiple database environments
  • ETL Development: Design and implement robust ETL processes with comprehensive error handling
  • Technical Documentation: Create detailed analysis documents with visual diagrams for technical and business stakeholders
  • Code Quality Assurance: Maintain code synchronization between Oracle databases and version control systems
  • Testing Coordination: Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies for database migrations
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with DBAs, business analysts, and project managers to deliver successful outcomes

Requirements

  • Active or clearable MBI clearance.
  • Ability to work in a secure government environment with PII data
  • 8+ years of hands-on Oracle database development experience
  • Expert-level proficiency in PL/SQL programming including stored procedures, functions, packages, and triggers
  • Deep knowledge of Oracle Exadata platform including performance tuning and optimization
  • Strong understanding of complex Oracle query optimization
  • Expert-level database performance tuning and memory management
  • Experience resolving temp space issues and optimizing large-scale data comparisons
  • Knowledge of Exadata-specific optimization techniques and best practices
  • Proven ability to conduct deep-dive root cause analysis for complex database issues
  • Experience creating comprehensive technical documentation with visual diagrams
  • Strong analytical skills for data discrepancy investigation
  • Experience coordinating with DBA teams for Oracle support ticket submission
  • Ability to work with business users for testing validation and sign-off
  • Strong communication skills for technical documentation and status reporting
  • Experience with project timeline management and critical milestone delivery
  • BS or equivalent of a technical degree from an undergraduate institution
  • IRS Badge and/or GFE (laptop)
  • Proven experience with legacy system migrations (particularly from Solaris/M7 to Exadata environments) or Hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data validation methodologies or Experience with Informatica PowerExchange or similar CDC tools
