About the role

  • Manage a team of Technical Writers creating product design documentation and UX copy
  • Define overall UX documentation roadmap and drive UX technical writing processes and strategy
  • Mentor and review content including Graphical Requirements Specifications and design documentation
  • Advise on and support documentation submissions into ALM and PLM systems
  • Lead process and tool improvements and evaluate future tools (e.g., new ALM and CMS systems)
  • Support writing appropriate accessibility annotations and manage UX strings across products
  • Collaborate frequently with cross-functional stakeholders (QA, UX, Dev, PM), lead revision process, and meet deadlines
  • Work closely with UX managers to coordinate content outputs across products/platforms
  • Oversee and distribute Technical Writing section of the Writing Style Guide for UX
  • Serve as a center of excellence: mentor, educate, and advocate for technical writing practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a discipline related to Technical Writing (e.g. Business Communications, Creative Writing, English)
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in writing/editing technical content
  • Minimum of 2 years direct management experience; successfully managed teams of minimum 3 people
  • Proven success working with leadership-level stakeholders
  • Extensive experience creating and analyzing technical content
  • Understanding of UX design, common design tools, language, and processes
  • Experience with structured component content management systems (CCMS) or DITA
  • Experience working in quality systems like Arena or Polarian
  • Experience advising on and supporting documentation submissions into ALM and PLM systems
  • Experience writing accessibility annotations and managing UX strings and translation processes
  • High level of competency in applied writing skills for lay user audiences
  • Excellent project management and process development skills
  • Comfortable in a dynamic agile software development environment
  • Familiarity with platforms and design tools such as Figma, JIRA, Miro
  • Experience in Med Tech or consumer products, familiarity with Medical Device development processes and Diabetes preferred
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, and mentorship skills
