About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Writing fast, accurate, and engaging news stories across Dexerto's core coverage areas
- Covering gaming, TV & Movies, anime, entertainment, food, social media, content creators, and viral internet culture
- Identifying stories through social media, industry sources, and trend monitoring
- Pitching original story ideas and features
- Publishing and promoting stories across social media platforms including X and Facebook
- Writing social copy that encourages engagement and helps stories reach new audiences
- Working closely with editors to ensure stories meet Dexerto's editorial standards
- Contributing ideas for headlines, angles, and follow-up coverage
- Helping identify emerging trends before they become mainstream stories.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience writing for a digital publication, website, newspaper, magazine, or similar outlet
- Strong news judgment and an instinct for stories that will resonate with online audiences
- Excellent writing, research, and fact-checking skills
- A genuine interest in gaming, entertainment, social media, content creators, and online culture
- A strong understanding of social media platforms and how stories spread online
- Experience using platforms such as X, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch, and Reddit
- Experience posting content to social media accounts on behalf of a publication is desirable
- The ability to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy.
- Someone who is happy covering a wide range of topics and adapting to new trends.
