About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Global Head of Sanctions Advisory in safeguarding Deutsche Bank against legal, regulatory, and reputational risks related to business involving sanctioned entities and/or jurisdictions
  • Provide expert guidance on complex sanctions and export control matters, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor and assess changes in sanctions regimes, recommending actions based on materiality and business impact
  • Serve as a point of escalation for financial crime teams, coordinating responses to complex scenarios and analyzing risk events and trends
  • Act as a subject matter expert for sanctions-related reporting obligations and regulatory or audit inquiries, including potential OFAC disclosures
  • Drive execution of sanctions initiatives using strong program management practices, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to scope, and sustainable outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required; JD or Master’s Degree strongly preferred
  • Advanced experience with large financial institutions in compliance, legal or financial crime function
  • Expertise in sanctions regulations is required, with a focus on OFAC, as well as knowledge of EU and UK sanctions regimes
  • Ability to work across geographic & cultural boundaries to achieve organizational goals & objectives
  • Ability to make decisions independently and escalate urgent matters to senior leaders with the appropriate key facts
